bwGRiD Portal - Documentation and Links (for Portlet developer)

Please find links to the most important components of the portal below. The links are predominantly provided to document individual portal components. None of the components need to be downloaded separately for the portal. All components required for the operation of the portal are included in our bwGRiD Portal Template.

Technology overview

The portal is based on the Portlet framework GridSphere and the Servlet container Apache Tomcat. Communication with the Grid components is carried out via the Grid Application Tookit (GAT) and Gatlet. At this stage Grid connection is only realised via Globus (4.0.8 WS-GRAM). Additional connections will be worked on within the framework of the project "bwGRiD - complementary measures".

Access to the portal is realised with the help of a grid certificate. Before logging in, the user needs to apply for a grid certificate and install this certificate in their browser. Instructions how to create a certificate are provided by the individual bwGRiD locations. The Firefox add-on Grid Proxy Manager makes creation and upload of MyProxy certificates easy.
