Esslingen University of Applied Science
General Information
As a partner in the bwGRiD and within the framework of the D-Grid Project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Esslingen University of Applied Science provides virtual organisations with the opportunity to use computing time on a cluster system via their Faculty of Information Technology.
- ID code of the site in the D-Grid GRRS: es
- Name of the resource in the GRRS: es-bwgrid
Information on the resources
The system consists of a X86 cluster with 180 nodes and was procured by the HLRS. The resource is available to all virtual organsiations in the D-Grid.
The computer nodes are Appro blade server gB222X. Each one is equipped with 2 CPUs Intel Xeon E5520 or X5560 respectively (Gainestown/Nehalem), with a clock rate of 2.26 GHz or 2.8 GHz respectively, as well as 8 MB cache size. Main memory size is 24 GB per node (DDR3-1066 or DDR3-1333 respectively). The frontend systems have a similar configuration.
InfiniBand QDR is used for the network, set up as a HyperCube with a total of 192 edge ports.
Als Verbindungsnetzwerk wird InfiniBand QDR verwendet, aufgebaut als HyperCube mit insgesamt 192 Edge-Ports.
Hard disk storage is provided on a NEC LXFS storage system. It is available on all nodes and on the frontends as Lustre file system via InfiniBand. Storage space is 36 TB.
The operating system is Scientific Linux 5.3.
Access is available through the following middleware systems:
- Globus Toolkit 4.0.x: grid01.hs-esslingen.de
- GSISSH Interactive Node: grid01.hs-esslingen.de (Port 2222)
